Influential Cologne-based US artist and filmmaker Kim Collmer's first retrospective exhibition spanning over twenty years of prolific outputs featuring a curated selection of significant experimental and animated films since 2000. Collmer's work has been described by the New York Times as having "an epic sweep" where she has often been compared to Alexander Calder for the childlike charm of her films. Collmer earned her Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has taught at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and at Columbia College. She was a Guest Professor specializing in New Media at the University of Applied Arts, Schwäbisch Hall, and has also lectured at the Universität der Künste Berlin, and the Hochschule für Künste Bremen. Collmer has exhibited her work and films internationally, including White Columns, New York, the Arsenal, Berlin, the Gene Siskel Film Center, Chicago, and the Ann Arbor Film Festival.

The Geelong International Biennale (GIB) is a major cultural event in Geelong, Australia which places outstanding cinema, art, theatre, dance, music, and architecture housed in rotational instances from local, national, and international contributions. Its ethos is born from a need for greater cultural innovation in the region to present quirky, risky, vibrant, thought provoking, and enriched projects within the seven nodes of celebration. 2020 will launch cinema as the inaugural event, combining four international film festivals, GIBCON the biennale’s academic conference, public workshops and talks, a drone event, and special screenings.
